First Minister Michelle O’Neill Visits St. Patrick’s Primary School’s New Build

Last week, St. Patrick’s Primary School in Dungannon celebrated a major milestone with the official opening of its new £600,000 Specialist SEN Setting — a modular build proudly delivered by JDC Building Works Ltd. in partnership with the Education Authority (Northern Ireland).

The event was marked by a warm welcome for First Minister Michelle O’Neill MLA, who was greeted by pupils representing a vibrant mix of cultures, each waving the flag of their home nation and welcoming the First Minister in ten different languages. The occasion showcased everything that makes St. Patrick’s Primary a special place — from a powerful performance of traditional Irish music and song, to a colourful East Timorese celebration dance in traditional tais.

The school choir, supported by Malachi Cush, gave a moving rendition of The Hills of Tyrone, celebrating the sense of belonging and community that defines this inclusive school.

📍 Designed with inclusion at its core, the new modular SEN facility offers a calm, modern, and purpose-built environment where pupils with additional needs can thrive. The two-classroom build enhances the school’s capacity to deliver tailored support while enriching the broader learning experience for all pupils.

“We are privileged to welcome the First Minister to celebrate this significant milestone… This new provision further enhances the school’s capacity for supporting our whole school community,”

Seamus McCreesh

Principal of St. Patrick’s PS.
